Get paid quickly with this convenient digital payment option
When you own a business, cash flow is crucial. What if you could alleviate the hassle and expense of collecting payments and improve the speed at which money comes into your business? Millions of consumers use Zelle1 — a digital payment option that allows people to send money safely and quickly. And now eligible small business owners can use Zelle for their business to get paid by customers in the same way.
How it works
Zelle is a fast, safe, and easy way for consumers and eligible small businesses to send and receive money using just an email address or U.S. mobile number. Wells Fargo small business customers can now use Zelle as a way to request, receive, and send payments with their trusted customers, vendors, and suppliers.1 That means there’s no third-party middleman — money goes directly from one account to the other with no stops in between. And when you get paid with Zelle, the money is available in your account typically in minutes when both parties are already enrolled in Zelle through their financial institutions in the U.S. You no longer have to wait for the money you’re owed or wonder if a check has cleared in your bank account. Since access to Zelle is part of your bank’s mobile app, it uses the same security features your bank does to keep transactions secure, allowing customers to pay your business safely.1 Plus, your customers no longer need to run to the ATM, carry checks, or have cash on hand to pay you, making it simple and convenient for them. This contactless option can also help improve your business’s cash flow and save you time by reducing the need to run to the bank to deposit funds. Best of all, Wells Fargo does not charge its small business customers to send or receive money with Zelle.

Zelle is a cashless digital payment option. While almost any business will benefit by being paid with a secure, fast, and easy-to-use digital transaction, Zelle is well-suited for business owners who regularly receive cash or checks. For example, professionals such as hairstylists, therapists, music and dance teachers, photographers, financial planners, or personal trainers could benefit from this service to collect payments after providing their services. And businesses that collect monthly payments, such as landscapers or daycare providers, might find this a convenient way to request1 and collect payments from their customers.
While Zelle is a win/win for both businesses and their customers, you should be aware of these key considerations:
- Currently, there are no receipt functions with Zelle, though your banking app will keep track of all your transactions.
- Once money is sent, it cannot be canceled or pulled back if the recipient is already enrolled with Zelle.
- Customers who aren’t currently using Zelle may be hesitant to enroll, but you can let them know their mobile banking app probably already gives them access.
Let all of your customers know they can pay you with Zelle by telling them when you see them or by printing a message on your invoices or emails (“I accept payments with Zelle®”). Or simply use the Zelle “request money” feature in the Wells Fargo Mobile® app, which sends them a notification to let them know you are requesting the amount to be sent with Zelle. With Zelle, your customers can make quick, convenient, and safe payments to you that arrive typically in minutes,1 keeping your cash flow current and your business humming along.

1 Enrollment with Zelle through Wells Fargo Online® or Wells Fargo Business Online® is required. Terms and conditions apply. Transactions typically occur in minutes when the recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile number is already enrolled with Zelle. Available to almost anyone with a U.S.-based bank account. For your protection, Zelle should only be used for sending money to friends, family, or others you trust. The Request feature within Zelle is only available through Wells Fargo using a smartphone. In order to send payment requests to a U.S. mobile number, the mobile number must already be enrolled with Zelle. Neither Wells Fargo nor Zelle offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle. To send money to or receive money from an eligible small business, a consumer must be enrolled with Zelle through their financial institution. Small businesses are not able to enroll in the Zelle app and cannot receive payments from consumers enrolled in the Zelle app. For more information, view the Zelle Transfer Service Addendum to the Wells Fargo Online Access Agreement.
