Finding support through your business network
I think it’s really important to have a network of people in your field that you can go to for advice.
In the very beginning of COVID, when none of us knew what was going on and we were really looking around for some support, I had a good friend who’s a veterinarian who’s in a management group with me and she and I spoke weekly. We touched base with each other about what it was that we were doing in our practices to solve problems.
I also turned to social media… veterinarians on Facebook. I have a friend who is an employment attorney, and she was really helpful as well. My practice manager and I both worked together to try to figure out some solutions because we were worried about the employment issues surrounding keeping your employees safe.
We really were trying to figure this out for ourselves. So, I think having a good network of people to explore these topics with was very helpful… helped me to stay sane.
That’s just kind of a lesson in general, as a business owner, having a network of people to turn to for advice when you need it is a good thing.
